"Johnny's Inferno" is a Season 2 episode of Johnny Bravo.

Synopsis[]

Johnny unwittingly follows the instructions of a satanic notebook (in an attempt to get buff), thus summoning a demon named Derek, that enlists him to join on an evil rampage.

Summary[]

Johnny is at the grocery store, looking at Man Hunk magazine. He reads an ad for the Muscle Head book club, who are offering a 10-book subscription for 25 cents. He mails off his information, then heads home. Once he gets to his house, a package is waiting on his doorstep. As he picks it up, ominous clouds roll in. He opens the package, and inside is a book: Evil Secrets of the Nether Regions. Johnny decides to follow the book's instructions. He creates a circle on the floor with pretzel crumbs, then does a ritual dance. At that moment, smoke fills the living room, and a demon enters (through the front door). The demon introduces himself as Derek, a master of evil. Johnny asks if he is a personal trainer, and Derek says yes. He decides to use Johnny as his minion, use him to go on an evil rampage, and earn his demonic horns.

The pair go to the park, and Derek tells Johnny to do a dance exercise on the grass. Johnny points out a nearby "Keep Off the Grass" sign, but Derek orders him to dance. Johnny complies, but in kicking up the dirt and grass, unearths a giant mutant rabbit. The commotion draws the attention of a scientist, who determines that illegally dumped toxic waste was buried in the park. He thanks Johnny for uncovering it and saving everyone. Derek is angry at this unintentional good deed. Later, back at the grocery store, Derek loads Johnny's arms with groceries. He declares they are going to the "10 Items or Less" line with 11 items, as well as cutting the whole line to pay for them. The cashier notices the extra item, but doesn't mind, and starts ringing Johnny's items up. Derek then offers to pay for the items with Canadian pennies, dumping them all over the counter. The cashier screams...with joy, as one of the pennies is very rare, and she has been looking for it for years. Derek is angry again. Afterward, Derek brings Johnny to an amusement park and orders him to paint a new line on the height requirement for one of the rides. Since all the kids who wanted to ride are now too short, Johnny and Derek get on. While Derek gloats at the kids, the car to the ride loses a bolt and falls off onto the pavement. A woman thanks Derek and Johnny for keeping the kids off of the defective ride. Johnny is fed up with Derek's antics at this point, and tries leaving. Derek then turns into a red mist, and enters Johnny's body, possessing him. Derek declares that he will wreak havoc across the world in Johnny's body. Johnny asks that they go to lunch first, and Derek agrees.

"Johnny" goes to Pop's Moon Palace, and asks for a burger with a side of entrails, paying with a demonic credit card. Pops is immediately suspicious. Carl enters, and Pops tells him that Johnny might have been possessed by a demon. Carl asks if this is true, but "Johnny" quickly makes his exit, failing to convince Pops and Carl that he is going to pick up chicks. Pops tells Carl to follow Johnny, then goes to prepare something that will get rid of the demon. Meanwhile, "Johnny" makes his way to the city reservoir to enact his evil masterpiece. Carl catches up, and tries to stop "Johnny." Derek declares that he will turn off the reservoir's filter, which won't really harm anyone, but will make the water taste like metal. Before he can throw the switch, Pops enters. Behind him is a beautiful woman with a delicious platter of nachos. Johnny is drawn in, but Derek tries pulling Johnny's body towards the switch. Ultimately, Johnny rushes towards the woman and nachos, causing Derek to emerge from his body. Derek is upset at his failure. Carl asks why Derek couldn't just pull the switch himself. Derek explains that he could, but it's more evil to make someone else do it, then leaves in a puff of smoke.

Pops is pleased that he and Carl were able to save Johnny. He asks for a nacho, but Johnny slaps his hand away.

Book Club Form

The book club form.

  • This was one of the few Johnny Bravo episodes with production art once featured on the Cartoon Network website's Department of Cartoons (the "D.O.C.").
  • On the Musclehead Book Club form, Johnny writes down an address that ends in 'A.P.T 404.' Mama's house is not an apartment, and 404 is notably one of the area codes for Atlanta, Georgia, where Cartoon Network's original headquarters was located.
