Master Hama is Johnny's karate teacher, though he hates Johnny for his stupidity and offer screwing things up for Master Hama (as well as injuring him).
Because of Johnny's stupidity as well as klutzy nature, Master Hama usually just makes the meathead do chores and other grunt work around his karate studio instead of teaching him any actual martial arts.
Also, despite Johnny's impressive physique, he's generally the worst of Master Hama's students. Most of the other students at Master Hama's karate studio appear to be kids (who in turn appear to be around the same age as Little Suzy) and even the smallest/weakest of those kids have been shown to easily defeat Johnny in a fight (although Johnny's also shown to be a coward when it comes to the prospect of getting into an actual physical fight).
Hama never considers Johnny as a real student.
